On Sunday 16 August the country's biggest cycling race rides through the heart of Porto. It is a fine thing to watch — and it closes a large part of the centre to cars for most of the day. Here is what changes, when, and what it means for your stay.
The circuit runs along the river and up through Baixa, finishing on the Avenida dos Aliados. Restrictions build over two days: parking clears first, then traffic stops.
The riders pass repeatedly through the same streets, so you can settle in one spot and see them several times. Arrive about 30 minutes before the closure window.
Grandstands, commentary and the finishing straight. The most atmosphere, and the most people — come early for a place at the barrier.

Arrivals, departures and taxis are the things worth planning. If you arrive or leave on Sunday afternoon, message us and we'll agree a meeting point outside the closed zone.
Rua do Infante D. Henrique is closed all day Sunday and parking is banned from Saturday 00:00. Reach the door on foot; taxis can only drop you at the edge of the Ribeira.
Open the guideRua do Almada closes completely from 13:00 to 18:00 and the finish area from Saturday evening. You are in the best seat in the city — just leave the car outside the centre.
Open the guideThe stretch of Rua do Bonjardim at your door (Guedes de Azevedo to Fernandes Tomás) is closed 13:00–18:00. Access on foot is normal throughout.
Open the guideRua da Alegria is closed between Firmeza and Santo Ildefonso from 13:00 to 18:00, which includes your building. Park north of Rua da Firmeza on Saturday.

Open the guideTravessa da Rua Chã itself stays open, but Augusto Rosa, Largo dos Loios and Rua de Trás around it close 13:00–18:00. Come and go on foot that afternoon.
Open the guideRua do Sol is not closed, but the streets that lead to it — Campo 24 de Agosto, Rua do Heroísmo, Passos Manuel — are shut 13:00–18:00. Driving in that window will not work.
